Client Project 5

Stabilizing Electrical Gear on a Deflecting Raised Access Floor (Zero Downtime)

In Project 5, the facility’s electrical gear was installed on an older raised access floor (RAF) that was beginning to deflect under load. That deflection created a real risk to electrical stability and operational continuity—especially in a mission-critical environment where even minor movement can lead to equipment stress, connection issues, and unplanned downtime.

The Challenge

  • Aging raised access floor system showing measurable floor deflection
  • Heavy electrical distribution equipment applying concentrated static loads
  • Customer required a no-shutdown solution with no disruption to operations
  • Future electrical refresh planned—solution needed to extend service life and reduce interim risk

Our Solution

We implemented a stabilization plan designed to decouple critical electrical loads from the raised floor while maintaining continuous operations:

  • Shored and reinforced the existing raised access floor where feasible
  • Built independent equipment stands to support electrical gear separately from the RAF system, reducing point-load stress
  • Verified stability and load distribution to restore confidence in the floor’s performance under operating conditions

Result: Continuous Operations, Extended Facility Life

The project was completed with zero downtime and no interruption to normal facility operations. The customer gained a stabilized platform that extended the usable life of the space until the planned electrical upgrade could be executed.

Planned Ahead for the Next Upgrade

Because a future refresh was already on the roadmap, we also stabilized primary roll paths to accommodate projected rolling loads—helping ensure safe transport of future equipment and reducing risk during the next phase of modernization.
